Garden Archæology

A client in Pasadena has started demolition of their existing garden, first removing a dense thicket of shrubs and underbrush. With very active children in the family, we were unsurprised to find a couple of tennis balls that had obviously been lost to the ivy for years. But continued demolition turned up many more sports artifacts: soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, baseballs, golf balls, whiffle balls, kick balls, Nerf balls… Current count has more than 75 balls so far! And we haven’t even started with the 100 feet of ivy along the side! At this rate, we shouldn’t be surprised to find a bowling ball, or maybe a cricket ball…
