The Lions
Symbolizing nobility, strength and courage, the Golden Lions passant guardant motif for Lenkin Design was carefully chosen to not only represent our professional passion, but also to be our constant guides in our daily work.
They are our inspiration.
A revered creature represented in art since the beginning of human history, the lion has been symbolically used by great leaders in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome; association with the essence of the lion meant great guidance and a deep devotion to humanity – both now and centuries thereafter.
A pair of Golden Lions passant guardant – a heraldic depiction of a forward-facing striding lion – was first used on the Coat of Arms of Normandy. As an image of dauntless courage, these lions are complemented by a golden hue which symbolizes generosity and elevation of the mind.
With the Norman conquest of England beginning in 1066 A.D. and the rise of Richard I (also known as Richard the Lionhearted), a trio of lions passant guardant became the King’s personal Coat of Arms. To this day, the trio of lions has remained on the Royal Coats of Arms of the British Royal Family, an ancient reminder of the connection between Great Britain and France.
Lions in art and decoration continue to symbolically denote a dedication to higher values that reach beyond the conveniently attainable. This is the same commitment that motivates Lenkin Design to craft beautiful and inspiring gardens and landscapes – and to instill in each and every one of our creations the majesty and spirit of the Golden Lions.
